Max Factory, the Japanese model manufacturer, has announced the upcoming release of "Ruka" from illustrator neco's original illustration series "Fuka Shinryo," joining their popular figma articulated figure line. The figure is slated for a May 2027 release.
"Fuka Shinryo" is an original character illustration series by neco, which began in 2024. Continuing the artist's signature theme of combining beautiful girls with formidable weaponry, as seen in previous works like "Heavy Weapon High School Girls" and "FALSLANDER," this series features fair-skinned, light-haired maidens. Each character bears a flower-related name and dons intricate Gothic Lolita-style attire, with their garments adorned by exquisite floral embroidery inspired by their names. While they project an air of delicate elegance, the glint of blades nearby serves as a stark reminder that these are no fragile blossoms, but formidable battle girls capable of wielding massive weapons.
The "figma Ruka" figure brings the series' highly popular inaugural character to life as a fully articulated collectible, standing approximately 14.5 cm (about 5.7 inches) tall. Max Factory has utilized intricate sculpting to faithfully recreate her dynamic, curled twin-tails and her distinctive Gothic Lolita-style outfit, which cleverly integrates tactical harness elements. Every detail, from the various ribbon accents and metallic buckles to the multi-layered ruffles on her sleeves and skirt, has been meticulously crafted. Even the delicate floral embroidery on her stockings is precisely rendered through pattern printing.
The figure incorporates figma's signature original joint parts throughout, ensuring flexible articulation through precise segmentation that maintains the integrity of her intricate costume design. For expressive display, Ruka comes with three interchangeable face plates: a "standard face," a "smiling face," and a "closed-eyes face." Her arsenal includes two impressively sized katanas, a short sword, and a handheld lantern featuring a delicate white flower nestled within. Both the standard and smiling face plates boast articulated eyeballs, allowing collectors to adjust her gaze and create a wide array of elegant, beautiful, and dynamic poses.
