Bandai Spirits, under its Bandai Hobby division, is set to release the latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz," the "HG 1/144 Gundam Sandrock Custom EW," on June 6, 2026. Ahead of its launch, official box art and prototype images have been unveiled.
The XXXG-01SR2 Gundam Sandrock Custom EW is the mobile suit piloted by Quatre Raberba Winner, one of the five main male protagonists in the series. Canonically, the OVA "Endless Waltz" version and the TV series' "Gundam Sandrock Custom" are the same unit. However, the "Endless Waltz" iteration features a redesigned exterior and armament by mechanical designer Katoki Hajime. This version foregoes the TV version's missiles and beam machine guns, instead relying solely on its twin Heat Shotels and Vulcan Cannons, and notably adds the dramatically cool Anti-Beam Cloak.
The "HG 1/144 Gundam Sandrock Custom EW" is produced using Bandai's latest color-separation and part-splitting techniques. Built upon a newly developed Gundam Wing series frame, the 1/144 scale kit meticulously recreates the sophisticated armor details and the ornate head and shoulder designs. A rich array of pre-colored parts in gray, red, yellow, purple, and silver accurately reproduce the crown, antenna, Vulcan Cannons, and other intricate details. The kit also includes four pairs of interchangeable fixed-pose hand parts.
Leveraging the new Gundam Wing series frame, the entire mobile suit boasts flexible articulation, with the shoulder joints offering a wide range of motion. This allows for dynamic poses, such as the iconic dual Heat Shotel jump slash. The two massive "Heat Shotels" feature sharp blades rendered in silver molded parts. They can be stored on either side of the backpack, and when activated, clear red blade parts can be swapped in to depict their scorching, energized state.
The mobile suit's most iconic armament, the "Anti-Beam Cloak," is constructed from massive shoulder armor pieces, a collar piece, and front, back, and side cloak sections. Notably, the front, back, and side cloak parts are crafted from a "new soft material" with distressed edges, making them thin, flexible, and freely detachable. Even when fully draped over the mobile suit, the cloak maintains the full range of articulation for all joints, and its sway angle and intricate folds can be manually adjusted for dynamic display.
