The LEGO Group has just revealed a new wave of sets from its SMART Play line, this time in an exciting collaboration with "Pokémon"! This article will cover five new expansion sets that do not include the core Smart Brick: "72161 Drone Search for Mythical Mew," "72162 Eevee and Lapras's Treasure Hunt," "72163 Mewtwo's Lab Break," "72165 Umbreon vs. Garchomp Championship Battle," and "72166 Cubone and Gengar's Spooky Showdown." Scheduled for an August 1, 2026 release, these sets will initially launch in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Poland, and Australia.
This new wave of Pokémon SMART Play sets brings fan-favorite characters like Mew, Mewtwo, Eevee, Cubone, and Gengar to life in LEGO form. Designed with simple builds and kid-friendly price points, these sets leverage the new LEGO SMART Play system for interactive play. This technology expands the LEGO Pokémon universe, allowing kids to build bonds with their Pokémon and engage in battles just like a real Pokémon Trainer, ensuring the adventure never ends! It's important to note, however, that these five sets do not include the Smart Brick. To unlock the motion, lights, and sounds, you'll need to purchase a set that includes the Smart Brick, such as the 72167 Charizard vs. Jolteon Ultimate Battle or the 72164 Pikachu's Training House, to get the complete experience!
