The MODEROID model kit series, from Japan's MECHA SMILE brand, has announced new 1/60 scale model kits based on the "ARM SLAVE" mechs from the popular light novel series "Full Metal Panic!". Further product details are expected to be revealed at a later date.
The ARM SLAVE, short for "Armored Mobile Master-Slave System," is a humanoid weapon developed by humanity in the "Full Metal Panic!" universe, starting in the 1980s. Beginning with first-generation models like the American-made "M4" and Soviet "Rk-89," early AS units still relied on traditional tank and aviation technology and fuel. Subsequently, various factions worldwide continuously improved their performance, investing in new technologies and materials. By the late 1990s, when protagonist Sousuke Sagara was active in the main story, the clandestine mercenary unit Mithril had deployed the American-developed third-generation "M9." This advanced unit, equipped with low-temperature fusion engines, artificial muscles, and ECS electromagnetic camouflage, boasted performance a decade ahead of its time, combating terrorist organizations and authoritarian regimes.
MODEROID first launched a "Full Metal Panic!" series product in 2018 with the "Rk-92 Savage," coinciding with the broadcast of the anime "Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory." Now, after an eight-year hiatus, the series is finally set to continue with new "Full Metal Panic!" mechs. The two newly announced units are the American-developed second-generation "M6 Bushnell" and the third-generation "ARX-7 Arbalest," piloted by protagonist Sousuke Sagara.
