During the "Nintendo Direct 2026.6.9" broadcast, KOEI TECMO GAMES subsidiary GUST officially unveiled the next mainline entry in the beloved "Atelier" series, code-named A27: "Atelier Calia: The Night Kingdom and the Guiding Star of Memories" (カリアのアトリエ ～夜の王国と追憶の道標～)! A brand-new trailer dropped, teasing an early 2027 launch across PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
Following up on the previous installment, "Atelier Ulmia: The Alchemist of Memories and the Land of Illusions" (a provisional translation as no official English title for A26 has been announced), "Atelier Calia: The Night Kingdom and the Guiding Star of Memories" dives deep into the theme of "memory" as an alchemy RPG.
True to the series' roots, the game blends alchemy and adventure, centering its narrative on Calia (voiced by Asami Kazuki), a young girl who has lost her memories. Players will join her on a journey into the mysterious "Night Kingdom" as she searches for fragments of her past and forgotten recollections.
The official reveal also showcased some exciting real-time combat footage. Calia can be seen wielding a rapier-like weapon, clashing with monsters inspired by birds and beavers. Beyond standard combos, she can even unleash powerful alchemically crafted bombs mid-battle!
And of course, the iconic "Alchemy Synthesis" system, a cornerstone of the "Atelier" series, is back! The trailer offered a quick glimpse of the alchemy interface, revealing familiar elements like Quality and Traits. However, a new intriguing element, "ライン接続数" (Line Connection Count), also appeared on screen, hinting at a potential evolution and fresh mechanics for the signature alchemy system.
Eagle-eyed fans might have noticed a subtle hint in the latter half of the promotional video, seemingly suggesting the presence of Ulmia, the protagonist from "Atelier Ulmia: The Alchemist of Memories and the Land of Illusions."
With both game titles featuring the keyword "Memories," it's highly probable that "Atelier Calia" and "Atelier Ulmia" share a deeper connection in terms of world-building or overarching plot. We'll have to wait for official announcements to uncover the full story!
