Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya has officially unveiled the latest character in its fantasy-meets-sci-fi bishoujo model kit line, "ARCANADEA". The new figure, "Ornella", is slated for a December 2026 release.
The new character "Ornella" was brought to life by the up-and-coming illustrator whoopin. In the world of "ARCANADEA," she is the manager of the "DEARS Tavern." With a lazy personality, she despises getting dragged into trouble and is skilled at using her silver tongue and mature charm to toy with her opponents. While she can be a bit haughty, she possesses a gentle nature and a caring, big-sisterly side that values loyalty. She typically hides behind this persona and her Oni-type form, as her true identity is that of a Demon-type DEARS, one of the most powerful "Seven Demon Spears."
The "Arcanadea Ornella" model kit is assembled from intricately sculpted, multi-colored parts. Standing at an approximate height of 19cm, the kit masterfully captures the original illustration's design. It delicately reproduces her alluring, kimono-inspired outfit and stunning physique, even detailing the rich wrinkles in the fabric and the shape of her full hips visible through the material. Accessories include a variety of expressive hand parts, four pre-printed interchangeable face plates, and a sheet of water-slide decals with various eye designs for creating your own custom expressions on the included blank face parts.
Ornella is the first character in the series to feature a two-form transformation. In her non-combat Oni-type "Disguise Mode," her fur shawl can be freely attached or removed for different looks, and she can be posed holding a smoking pipe to convey a languid attitude. The hem and sleeves of her kimono are articulated, and the knee joints incorporate a multi-axis, pull-out mechanism, expanding the range of motion for limbs that would otherwise be restricted, allowing for elegant dancing or reclining poses.
By swapping dedicated parts, Ornella can transform into her combat "True Form." This mode sees her shed the kimono for a suit of light armor, fully unleashing her long, ashen hair, demonic wings, and tail. Her limbs boast an even wider range of motion compared to her Disguise Mode, and her upper arms feature a double-jointed structure for more natural weapon-wielding poses. The wrist armor, hair, wings, and the base of her tail are all articulated. Her armaments include a katana that can be drawn from its scabbard and a large, ring-shaped weapon that can be disassembled into dual blades, perfect for creating dynamic combat scenes.
