Japan's Bandai Gashapon brand is expanding its popular high-end "Creature Encyclopedia Advance" series with the "Jewel Beetle & Flower Chafer Display Stand & Bark Pedestal (Medium) Set" capsule toy. Each capsule has a suggested retail price of 1,800 JPY (the standard capsule version is 1,500 JPY). It will be available for pre-order on GASHAPON ONLINE, with an estimated release in September 2026.
The "Creature Encyclopedia Advance" (Ikimono Daizukan Advance) series boasts top-tier size, sculpting, and articulation, offering even more realistic details and exquisite paintwork compared to the standard "Creature Encyclopedia" line. This latest "Creature Encyclopedia Advance: Jewel Beetle & Flower Chafer Display Stand & Bark Pedestal (Medium) Set" focuses on scarab beetles and jewel beetles, often called "flying jewels" for their gem-like shimmering elytra. Utilizing electroplating technology, Bandai aims to faithfully reproduce the true beauty of these iridescent insects.
The lineup includes five distinct types: the "Japanese Jewel Beetle (Blue Variant)," the "Adelaide Flower Chafer," the "Gold Bar Flower Chafer," the "Victoria Jewel Beetle," and the "Japanese Jewel Beetle." Each figure boasts an impressive wingspan of up to 155 mm and features 20 points of articulation across its body. Utilizing CT scans of actual specimens, Bandai has meticulously recreated intricate biological details, from the delicate wings and legs to the compound eyes!
The set comes with a realistic wood-textured display stand, allowing collectors to pose the beetles in their classic "perched on a tree" state. Additionally, a clear support stand is included to depict them in mid-flight!
