BANDAI SPIRITS' TAMASHII NATIONS collector's division has announced the latest addition to their S.H.Figuarts (Shinkocchou Seihou) series: Shinken Red from Toei's tokusatsu series "Samurai Sentai Shinkenger." This acclaimed line sculpts figures from the skeletal structure up, capturing the inherent coolness and natural articulation of tokusatsu heroes. Shinken Red is slated for release in November 2026.
The man behind Shinken Red is Takeru Shiba, the 18th head of the Shiba Clan and a samurai capable of manipulating Mojikara (written power) of "fire." He leads a team of retainers, forming the Samurai Sentai, to defend humanity from the Gedoshu, monsters residing in the Sanzu River. Having undergone rigorous martial arts training since childhood, Takeru possesses overwhelming strength in swordsmanship, combat techniques, and Mojikara application compared to his retainers who joined later. He can even effortlessly wield two "Rekka Daizantou" swords, each approximately 2 meters long. However, it was later revealed in the series that Takeru Shiba was, in fact, a kagemusha (body double) for the true 18th head of the Shiba Clan, Kaoru Shiba.
The S.H.Figuarts (Shinkocchou Seihou) Shinken Red is an articulated figure standing approximately 14.5 cm tall. It utilizes 360-degree full-body scanning technology to capture the physique of suit actor Hirofumi Fukuzawa, integrating his proportions and muscle lines directly into the product. This results in a much more show-accurate appearance compared to the original S.H.Figuarts release from years ago. The articulation joints are designed based on human anatomy, featuring structures that maintain the figure's aesthetic even during dynamic poses. This allows for powerful and natural stances when wielding swords.
In addition to various interchangeable hand parts, the figure comes packed with a wide array of weapons and tools used in the series. These include the transformation device Shodo Phone (both Phone Mode and Brush Mode), the Shishi Origami (Emblem Mode and Animal Mode), Hiden Discs (a generic disc and the Shishi Disc), the Shinkenmaru, and the Rekka Daizantou. By swapping parts, collectors can recreate the expanded state of the central disc holder on the belt, as well as the empty state of the Shodo Phone holster on the side. Both the Shinkenmaru and Rekka Daizantou also feature mechanisms to load the Hiden Discs, allowing for dynamic recreations of special attack scenes.
