The anime's final season kicked off last October, and now, My Hero Academia is celebrating its 10th anniversary! Plus, fans got a special treat on May 2nd with the "More" anime special, adapted from the manga's final volume.
Get ready, because a super cool collaboration has just been announced! Kyoto's venerable woodblock print studio, Takesasado, is teaming up with "My Hero Academia" to release stunning Ukiyo-e woodblock prints featuring Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, and Shoto Todoroki. These epic pieces drop on July 31, 2026, and will be available on the HIKE official website and select retailers.
These incredible works mark the debut collaboration for the brand-new venture, CRAFTALE! This fresh initiative is all about forging new artistic value by blending traditional Japanese craftsmanship with the captivating narratives of anime, manga, and games. CRAFTALE aims to be the gateway for younger generations and international fans to discover authentic Japanese artisanry, ensuring these time-honored techniques continue to thrive for years to come.
Kenji Takenaka, the master "surishi" (printer) from Kyoto's historic Takesasado woodblock print studio, shared his thoughts on the collaboration: "We didn't invent woodblock printing; we simply stand between the past and the future, continuing to pass down the techniques left by our predecessors. My mission is to hand this craft over to the next generation."
The core theme of "inheritance" depicted in "My Hero Academia" perfectly resonates with the traditional artisans' unwavering commitment to safeguarding and passing down their skills through generations. This profound connection is what sparked this truly meaningful collaboration.
Crafted under the philosophy of "modern culture worth preserving for the future," this series features brand-new, original prints meticulously drawn by Takesasado. Each piece centers around the epic final battle of "My Hero Academia," dynamically showcasing Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, and Shoto Todoroki in their fierce combat glory.
The artists, carvers, and printers delved deep into the anime's content, unleashing their creativity to flawlessly capture each character's unique personality, posture, and intricate details within these stunning artworks.
