S-MEISTER x Ghost in the Shell Unveils Stunning Raden Craft Mechanical Watch Featuring Tachikoma Design!

Known for its exquisite Japanese craftsmanship, watch brand "SONNE" and its mechanical watch sub-brand "S-MEISTER" previously dropped a hit collaboration with Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, featuring a mechanical watch inspired by the Upper Rank Three demon of the Infinity Castle. Fans absolutely loved it!

Now, they're back with another epic partnership, this time with the iconic anime franchise Ghost in the Shell: THE GHOST IN THE SHELL, which just launched a new animated series this July! Get ready for a gorgeous Raden craft watch, drawing its design cues from the series' beloved thinking tank, the Tachikoma. Priced at 79,200 JPY, this masterpiece officially drops on July 31, 2026.

"Raden" is a traditional decorative craft where iridescent mother-of-pearl or abalone shells are inlaid into lacquerware or other surfaces, creating a shimmering, often silver-purple glow. Originating in China and later evolving into a distinct Japanese style, it's a common sight in everyday items and a prized collectible in Japan today.

Each watch is a testament to this traditional Raden craft, meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans using the pearlescent layers of shells, showcasing Japan's unparalleled traditional artistry.

The watch's design concept centers around the Tachikoma's frontal appearance, cleverly integrating distinctive details like its wheels and mechanical arms into the dial and various components. Furthermore, the "Shell" in the series title itself symbolizes the "prosthetic body" concept within the Ghost in the Shell universe. This profound connection is beautifully expressed by using mysterious, iridescent shell material, brought to life through the traditional Japanese Raden technique.

The watch face stunningly recreates the Tachikoma's visage using Raden craft. On the right side, where the mechanical arm would be, an Open Heart design allows you to peek at the intricate movement, making it seem as if the Tachikoma's arm is actively working.

The hour markers are inspired by the Tachikoma's distinctive wheels, while the hands cleverly incorporate elements from its mechanical arms, bringing the entire design together seamlessly.

Flip the watch over, and a transparent case back offers a direct view of the mechanical movement in action. The case back is also engraved with the Ghost in the Shell: THE GHOST IN THE SHELL logo, adding an extra layer of collector's appeal.
