Following the "Joker" series, DC's "Batman" universe is set to expand this fall with a new villain spin-off film, "Clayface." The second trailer for the highly anticipated movie dropped overnight.
The film is directed by James Watkins, known for his work on "Eden Lake" and "Speak No Evil." Mike Flanagan, director of "Doctor Sleep," conceived the initial story, with Hossein Amini, co-writer of "Drive," taking over to rewrite the final screenplay.

The cast features Eddie Marsan, Naomi Ackie, Max Minghella, and Tom Rhys Harries in the titular role of Matt Hagen, also known as Clayface. "Clayface" is slated for a North American release on October 23 this year.
"Clayface" is set within the main DC Universe, distinct from Robert Pattinson's "The Batman" series, and reportedly takes place during the earliest timeline of the main DCU narrative.

The plot follows Matt Hagen, who grew up in the impoverished Gotham City slums, enduring a violent childhood before breaking free to build a celebrated acting career. However, just as his star was rising, a romantic entanglement with a local crime boss's girlfriend leads to a brutal attack, leaving his face severely disfigured. Desperate to reclaim his life, Matt encounters scientist Caitlyn Corr, who offers an experimental serum to restore his appearance. Yet, after the injection, Matt's body begins a horrifying transformation, gradually turning him into the monstrous Clayface.
