Last month at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios dropped the bombshell announcement that Ryan Gosling is confirmed to star in the new "Ghost Rider" movie. The project will be helmed by "Deadpool & Wolverine" director Shawn Levy and is slated for a 2028 release. This week, veteran industry insider Jeff Sneider revealed more details in his newsletter, The InSneider.

According to Sneider, Sacha Baron Cohen, who is set to make his debut as Mephisto in the "Ironheart" series, will reprise the role as a villain in "Ghost Rider." However, he reportedly won't be the film's primary antagonist, as another main villain is in the mix. British actress Rosamund Pike is reportedly being eyed for the female lead. Pike previously co-starred with Gosling in the thriller "Fracture."

As comic fans know, there have been multiple Ghost Riders in the comics. While Marvel has yet to officially reveal which version Gosling will play, Sneider claims he will portray the most famous incarnation, Johnny Blaze, and that he will be the only Ghost Rider featured in the film. Furthermore, the new "Ghost Rider" will not be Gosling's first appearance in the MCU; his debut is reportedly set for next year's "Avengers: Secret Wars."
