Speculation continues to swirl around the casting for Marvel Studios' upcoming "X-Men" reboot. While reports recently linked an actress to the role of Emma Frost, also known as the White Queen, the internet has been equally abuzz with potential candidates for Scott Summers, a.k.a. Cyclops.
However, Cooper Hoffman, the acclaimed star of "Licorice Pizza," who was widely rumored to be joining the mutant ensemble, has now personally debunked those claims.
Hoffman recently attended the premiere of his new film, "I Want Your Sex," where he spoke with Entertainment Tonight. He explicitly stated that he is not involved in Marvel Cinematic Universe's "X-Men" reboot. Hoffman acknowledged that online casting reports and fan-driven speculation often spread rapidly, sometimes evolving into seemingly credible news. Therefore, he understood why he was linked to Cyclops, but confirmed the rumors were inaccurate.
Beyond Hoffman, Drew Starkey, known for his role in "Outer Banks," has also been a popular name circulating for the new Cyclops. Despite the fervent fan discussions, Marvel Studios has yet to make an official announcement regarding the actor who will portray Cyclops.
With Disney's D23 event on the horizon, many anticipate that Marvel may officially unveil the initial "X-Men" cast lineup. Whether Hoffman's denial is genuine or a strategic move in line with Marvel's notorious secrecy remains to be seen until an official reveal from the studio.
