At 75 years old, composer and conductor Joe Hisaishi has officially bagged three Guinness World Records, thanks to his performances last year at the Tokyo Dome, and in the US at the Hollywood Bowl and New York's Radio City Music Hall.
The three records he's now officially holding are the Most tickets sold for a classical music concert series at the Tokyo Dome, the Most tickets sold for a classical music concert series at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, and the Longest consecutive performances by a classical music composer at New York's Radio City Music Hall (for a single, continuous run). Hisaishi expressed his immense honor and his desire to bring even more beautiful music to audiences.

These new records follow his Tokyo Dome performance last year, and were cemented by Hisaishi's three performances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl from July 21-23 this year, followed by seven consecutive nights at Radio City Music Hall from August 11-17. These three records, forged across three iconic venues in Japan and the US, mark a brand new milestone in Hisaishi's illustrious musical career.
Hisaishi stated: "I am incredibly honored and overjoyed to receive these Guinness World Records. The support and applause from the audience at each performance have been a tremendous encouragement. I will continue to work hard, and I hope more people will come to my concerts and enjoy the magic of live performance. Thank you all."

Regarding his concert works, his new piece, "Concerto for Orchestra," had its world premiere in May 2026 with the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington.
It will also be performed on August 25 and 26, 2026, at Tokyo's Suntory Hall during "Joe Hisaishi FUTURE ORCHESTRA CLASSICS Vol.8," with Hisaishi himself conducting and the FUTURE ORCHESTRA CLASSICS performing. The August 25 performance will mark the Japanese premiere of this work.
