Established in 1919, the venerable lacquerware shop Yamada Heiando boasts a history spanning over a century, having served the Japanese Imperial Family since the Taisho era. Their exquisite lacquerware, including Imperial crest plates and tea sets, has been highly favored by the Imperial Family. As an "Imperial Household Agency Purveyor," their products are also proudly used in Japanese embassies across the globe.
Recently, Yamada Heiando announced an exciting collaboration with the massively popular IP Pokémon, which is fast approaching its 30th anniversary! They're launching a stunning collection of Pikachu chopsticks and chopstick rests, meticulously adorned with traditional "Maki-e" artistry. Combining the beloved Pokémon with their own proud design expertise, this collection creates a must-have lacquerware set exclusively for Pokémon fans. These exquisite items are currently available for order on their official online store.
Maki-e is a highly sophisticated craft technique, an artisan skill that dates back hundreds of years. It involves using the adhesive properties of lacquer to meticulously affix silver or gold powder onto lacquerware, following a desired pattern. This process creates a unique golden luster, exuding an unparalleled sense of elegance and texture.
For this Pokémon-themed collection, the designs are masterfully crafted using "Maki-e." Pikachu's iconic silhouette is depicted with shimmering gold metallic powder, while the Poké Ball silhouette is rendered with elegant silver metallic powder. This showcases a truly beautiful collection that seamlessly blends traditional Japanese craftsmanship with modern pop culture.
