Ryohei Suzuki Announces Filming Wrap for Netflix Live-Action "City Hunter 2," Set for 2027 Release!

Netflix's live-action adaptation of the popular manga "City Hunter" (シティーハンター) is getting a sequel! Just two years after the first film's release, Netflix officially announced in March that "City Hunter 2" was greenlit for production.

Now, Ryohei Suzuki, who plays the iconic protagonist Ryo Saeba, took to X on September 1st to announce that filming for the Netflix movie "City Hunter 2" has successfully wrapped! The production is now moving into post-production, with a global exclusive release planned for Netflix in 2027.

Suzuki shared on X, "Filming for Netflix's 'City Hunter 2' has successfully concluded." He also posted a video of the cast and crew celebrating the wrap, along with a photo of a script covered in sticky notes, clearly showing it had been read countless times.

He added, "I'm taking a brief moment to breathe a sigh of relief before we dive into editing and other post-production work. But we're only halfway there! To deliver the absolute best 'City Hunter' to everyone, we'll continue to give it our all. Please look forward to it!"

The first film was a massive hit, with audiences praising Ryohei Suzuki's incredible portrayal of the character and the overall entertainment value, which naturally paved the way for a sequel. This marks a significant milestone, as it's the first time a Japanese Netflix original film has ever received a sequel!

For the sequel, Ryohei Suzuki and Misato Morita are set to return, joined by Fumino Kimura, who reprises her role as detective Saeko Nogami. The new season will be directed by Keiichiro Shiraki, known for his action-packed work, with Junpei Yamaoka handling the script.

Fans are undoubtedly hyped for Ryohei Suzuki's live-action "City Hunter." The official channels will be dropping more info soon, so stay tuned!
