Global box office results were revealed this past weekend, with "Practical Magic 2", the fantasy sequel arriving 28 years after the original, opening to $46 million worldwide. This includes $16 million from international markets and approximately $29 million to $30 million domestically in North America. The film predictably claimed the top spot at the North American box office, officially ending "Spider-Man: Brand New Day"'s six-week reign and pushing it to second place with $8.4 million.

However, despite its first-place finish, "Practical Magic 2"'s opening numbers actually fell short of expectations. Industry projections had anticipated a North American debut of around $38 million to $40 million for "Practical Magic 2", but it only reached approximately $30 million, or potentially even less. Internationally, Warner Bros. Pictures had projected a first-weekend haul of $18 million to $23 million, but the film ultimately garnered only $16 million.

The production budget for "Practical Magic 2" was approximately $75 million, similar to the first installment. The original film grossed only about $68 million, failing to break even. While the sequel has a higher chance of recouping its costs, it remains unlikely to become a major blockbuster.
Although "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" has relinquished its North American weekend box office crown to "Practical Magic 2", it still helped its star, Tom Holland, secure another title: the highest-grossing actor in film history. Holland's cumulative box office earnings from all his films have now surpassed $15.5 billion, overtaking previous record holder Zoe Saldaña, whose total stands at $15.46 billion.
