The Apple TV+ series "Shrinking," starring Jason Segel and Harrison Ford, is embroiled in legal controversy after a longtime crew member, Mindy Tessa McKoin, filed a lawsuit against Warner Bros. Television, executive producer and director Randall Winston, and others. McKoin alleges sexual harassment in the workplace, claiming her complaints were not properly addressed, and she was ultimately terminated.
McKoin, who served as a key second assistant director on the production for an extended period, states she was abruptly fired by executive producer Kip Kroeger on July 10, 2026, after a full day of shooting, with the reason given as "different production needs." However, her attorney emphasizes in the complaint that at no point, either then or later, was she informed of any poor performance, misconduct, or other legitimate business reasons for her termination.
McKoin asserts that one of the true reasons for her dismissal was her reporting of an incident that occurred on June 22, 2024, at the wrap party for "Shrinking" Season 2. She alleges that Winston, in front of a colleague, non-consensually touched her breast, constituting severe and unwelcome sexual harassment and creating a hostile and offensive work environment.
Beyond the sexual harassment allegations, McKoin also claims she repeatedly raised concerns about altered time records and unpaid wages. She states she verbally and in writing reported these issues multiple times between May and July of this year, and her termination on July 10 occurred less than 90 days after these complaints, suggesting retaliatory dismissal.
The lawsuit states that as a result, she suffered loss of wages, employment benefits, and other economic damages, along with emotional distress, humiliation, mental anguish, and anxiety. A specific amount for damages has not yet been specified.
Deadline reached out to Warner Bros. Television regarding the allegations, but the company declined to comment. Representatives for Randall Winston did not respond to inquiries. Currently, the case details remain solely the plaintiff's allegations, and further clarification awaits the judicial process.
