BANDAI SPIRITS' TAMASHII NATIONS collector's toy division in Japan has announced the latest release in their popular S.H.Figuarts action figure line from the hit anime "One Piece": the S.H.Figuarts Sakazuki (Akainu) -Marineford Summit War Arc-. Priced at 16,500 JPY (tax included), it's slated for release in March 2027.
Akainu is one of the Three Admirals of the Marines. He is a Logia-type Devil Fruit user, possessing the Mag-Mag Fruit (Magu Magu no Mi) ability. His philosophy is "Absolute Justice," making him an ultra-radical hawk who will stop at nothing, even sacrificing comrades and civilians, to eradicate evil. During the Summit War, he manipulated Squard, a pirate captain under Whitebeard, into betraying Whitebeard. He also summarily executed a Marine soldier attempting to flee battle out of fear. Furthermore, he provoked Fire Fist Ace into a direct confrontation by insulting Whitebeard. While attempting to kill Luffy, he fatally punched through Ace, who was protecting Luffy. After the Summit War, he engaged in a ten-day duel with Admiral Aokiji for the position of Fleet Admiral, emerging victorious and becoming the new Fleet Admiral.
The S.H.Figuarts Sakazuki (Akainu) -Marineford Summit War Arc- stands approximately 20 cm tall, faithfully recreating his imposing and robust physique. Unlike previously released figures like Kizaru, this iteration features a lightweight fabric coat for his Marine jacket, with only the golden epaulets and cuffs made of plastic. This is a significant improvement, as the fabric likely includes a soft wire for posing, allowing for dynamic, flowing cape effects. The figure includes four interchangeable face parts, three pairs of hands, and an additional pair of magma-flowing effect hands. Effect parts include a magma arm accessory and a special magma effect part that can be combined with the S.H.Figuarts Portgas D. Ace -Marineford Summit War- to recreate the iconic piercing scene. Additionally, a replacement face part for Luffy, a common inclusion in the "One Piece" S.H.Figuarts line, is included. This can be used with the S.H.Figuarts Monkey D. Luffy -Marineford Summit War- to replicate his stunned expression at the moment Ace was struck!
