S.H.Figuarts "Ultraman" Giras Articulated Figure Unveiled, Recreating the Iconic Scarf-Tearing Scene with Interchangeable Parts!

BANDAI SPIRITS' TAMASHII NATIONS, under its S.H.Figuarts articulated figure brand, is set to release a new product commemorating the 60th anniversary of "Ultraman"—the "Giras" articulated figure. Priced at 15,400 JPY, it is slated for release in March 2027!

The "Scarf Dinosaur" Giras first appeared in episode 10, "The Mysterious Dinosaur Base," which aired in 1966. It was a mutated dinosaur, originally a juvenile collected by Dr. Nakamura from Loch Ness and secretly raised for 15 years in Lake Yokoyama. To save on production costs, Giras's body utilized the suit from 1964's "Mothra vs. Godzilla" and the head from 1965's "Invasion of Astro-Monster" (Godzilla's head). A large, frill-like membrane was designed around its neck, which was famously torn off by Ultraman in the show's climax!

This S.H.Figuarts Giras stands approximately 17.5 cm tall. With cooperation from Tsuburaya Productions' LSS (Light Sculpture Studio), renowned kaiju sculptor Yuji Sakai personally supervised its creation based on extensive historical data. The figure meticulously recreates the rough skin texture and yellow-green color scheme, faithfully reproducing Giras's appearance from the series!

The figure's full articulation was designed by Mitsuhiko Hosokawa, who previously engineered the articulation for past S.H.MonsterArts and S.H.Figuarts Ultraman series. Its dorsal fins are connected with ball joints, allowing them to sway with movement, enabling dynamic poses to recreate action scenes from the show! Additionally, it includes an interchangeable neck part to depict its injured state, perfect for pairing with the Ultraman (Type A) figure, set for release early next year, to recreate the iconic scarf-tearing scene!
