From SQUARE ENIX, the new "PLAY ARTS SHIN" action figure series, an evolution of the "PLAY ARTS KAI" line, has announced its latest product from the game "FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH": "Zack Fair," slated for release in January 2027.
In the original "FINAL FANTASY VII" story, the late Zack Fair, though a supporting character with limited screen time, was a pivotal figure in many mysteries. His bright and lively personality led him to join the Shinra Company as a SOLDIER, inspired by the hero Sephiroth. He quickly rose to become a 1st Class elite, befriending the ordinary SOLDIER Cloud Strife during this period. However, during the Nibelheim incident, both were defeated by a corrupted Sephiroth and subsequently captured by Professor Hojo for human experimentation. After five years, Zack finally found an opportunity to escape with a mentally broken Cloud. Tragically, he was overwhelmed and killed by a large force of Shinra troops during their escape. Before his death, he entrusted the "Buster Sword" and his dreams to Cloud, leading to Cloud's initial cold personality in the story due to his jumbled memories.
The "PLAY ARTS SHIN Zack Fair" is crafted as an articulated figure standing approximately 30cm tall. Its highly poseable body is an evolution of the 'PLAY ARTS KAI' series, featuring newly designed joint parts and hip articulation. The previous ratchet joint mechanism has been removed, allowing for a smoother and wider range of motion. Accessories include two interchangeable face parts, and the newly designed movable eye parts allow for adjusting his gaze to match various poses.
The overall sculpt is based on Zack's 3D model from the "FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH" game, meticulously capturing his spirited and cheerful facial features, his full 1st Class SOLDIER uniform, and his well-trained, muscular physique. The uniform not only reproduces rich wrinkle details and a weighty texture but also intricately renders the patterns of fabric, leather, and metal. His signature weapon, the "Buster Sword," features metallic paintwork that highlights partial rust and weathering effects, along with a sharp blade. Furthermore, it faithfully recreates two slots that can accommodate six different Materia parts.
