A fan-created LEGO Ideas project based on Studio Ghibli's "Howl's Moving Castle" has officially reached 10,000 supporters, qualifying it for the third LEGO Ideas review of 2026. Designed by LEGO builder butterbarr, the model uses roughly 5,000 pieces to recreate the fantastical castle that roams the landscape on a pair of mechanical legs. From its staggered rooftops and smokestacks to its wildly asymmetrical architecture, the build captures the cobbled-together look of the animated castle. For now, this remains a fan submission, and LEGO has not confirmed it as an official set.

"Howl's Moving Castle" has long been a popular challenge for LEGO builders. Japanese creator Sakiya Watanabe previously used around 5,000 pieces to construct a "Howl's Moving Castle" model, combining an assortment of specialized elements to capture the castle's almost living, mechanical appearance. butterbarr took a different approach, leaving out motors and walking mechanisms to focus instead on the castle's sculpting and display presence. Countless small elements form its intricate exterior walls, smokestacks, and towers, while a dedicated display base presents the fantastical structure as a complete showcase model.

The project reached the 10,000-supporter milestone on October 24, 2026, securing a place in the third LEGO Ideas review of 2026. Although several "Howl's Moving Castle" projects have previously qualified for review, none have been selected for production. Fans will now have to wait for LEGO to announce whether this version will finally become an official set.
