Sideshow Collectibles, in collaboration with renowned artist J. Scott Campbell, recently announced the latest addition to their "Fairytale Fantasies Collection": a stunning new "Red Riding Hood" premium format statue! Both a standard and a limited edition will be available, with an estimated shipping date in Q3 2022.
Standing approximately 48.3 cm (19 inches) tall, this piece breaks away from the Disney Princess theme of previous releases. J. Scott Campbell's reimagining of the classic European fairytale character presents a fiercely alluring "Red Riding Hood." Far from the demure little girl we know, this version wields a crossbow and carries a basket, tracking wolf prints through a snow-laden forest. Not only her hood, but even her hair boasts a vibrant red hue. Her form-fitting corset, slender waist, and short skirt exude seductive charm. Intricate details include the blush on her cheeks, the weathered finish on the crossbow, and the dynamic sculpt of her flowing red hood and skirt.
Beyond the main figure, the tree trunk behind Red Riding Hood, sculpted to resemble a wolf's claw, adds an intriguing element. This detail imbues the piece with a dangerous aura, suggesting that while Red Riding Hood appears to be hunting the Big Bad Wolf, she might actually be ensnared in its grasp. It's worth noting that the "Little" has been intentionally dropped from the product's title, reflecting this bolder, more mature interpretation of Red Riding Hood. The limited edition will also include a metallic art print and display stand.
