Following the highly popular "Mantis" release, Bandai's Gashapon division is rolling out the second wave of its super realistic, shell-less "Insect Encyclopedia" capsule toy series with "Mantis 02 (かまきり02)"! This new lineup introduces even more incredible mantis species to collect. Each capsule toy is priced at 500 JPY and is slated for release in the fifth week of October 2021.
The "GASHAPON Mantis 02 Capsule Toys" were developed with the expert cooperation of Japan's Minoo Park Insect Museum, meticulously recreating the forms of actual specimens using X-ray CT scans. This impressive lineup features: "Rhombus-backed Dead Leaf Mantis (Dark Brown Type)", "Rhombus-backed Dead Leaf Mantis (Light Color Type)", "Cobra Dead Leaf Mantis (Dark Brown Type)", "Cobra Dead Leaf Mantis (Light Color Type)", as well as "Large Mantis (Pine Needle Green Type, Swollen Abdomen Version)", and "Large Mantis (Pine Needle Green Type, Normal Abdomen Version)".
These figures maintain the impressive large scale of their predecessors, measuring 15 cm in length and 19 cm in width. They boast incredibly lifelike body structures, accurately reproducing every detail from their slender antennae and menacing raptorial forelegs to the intricate textures. Transparent materials are used to showcase the delicate details of both front and hind wings. With 27 points of articulation across the entire body, achieved through movable joints and internal mechanisms, collectors can pose these mantises in dynamic, realistic stances, whether hunting or spreading their wings!
