BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division, known for its high-density detail and ease-of-assembly "FULL MECHANICS" series, has announced its latest release from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED." Following the Calamity Gundam, the "FULL MECHANICS 1/100 Raider Gundam" is slated for a May 2022 release.
The GAT-X370 Raider Gundam is one of the Earth Alliance's GAT-X series mobile suits developed for enhanced humans, alongside the Calamity Gundam and Forbidden Gundam. Its most distinctive feature is the X300 series transformable frame, allowing it to rapidly convert into a flight-capable Mobile Armor (MA) form. This enables hit-and-run tactics, such as transporting allied units, quickly entering battle to disrupt enemy lines, and swiftly reverting to Mobile Suit (MS) form for attacks. It's equipped with various armaments, including the "Mjolnir" wrecking ball, large claws, and a twin beam rifle.
The revitalized "FULL MECHANICS" series effectively replaces the RE/100 product line. While it doesn't feature a full inner frame, it boasts intricately sculpted armor, exposed frame, and mechanical details, along with a relatively straightforward assembly process. The enhanced color separation and part division techniques, which received high praise in the previous "Calamity Gundam" release, are also carried over to this second entry, the "Raider Gundam."
The sharply designed "FULL MECHANICS 1/100 Raider Gundam" precisely recreates intricate details such as the mask's muzzle, backpack-mounted cannons, thruster nozzles, and shoulder armor internal structures. The "Mjolnir" wrecking ball even features a built-in metal wire winding mechanism. Utilizing sliding, interlocking, and multi-joint designs throughout its body, the kit maintains excellent articulation in MS form while faithfully reproducing its MA transformation. After transformation, it can even be displayed in its Calamity Gundam-riding state using a display stand!
