TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS, today announced the upcoming release of the highly anticipated "Hi-Nu Gundam" from the novel "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack – Beltorchika's Children" for its popular die-cast toy series, "METAL BUILD." The figure is slated for a July 2022 release.
The RX-93-ν2 Hi-Nu Gundam is a mobile suit that appears in the novel "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack – Beltorchika's Children." It holds a similar status to the RX-93 Nu Gundam, serving as the personal unit of Londo Bell's MS team leader, Amuro Ray. Unlike the rushed production of the Nu Gundam, the Hi-Nu Gundam underwent thorough maintenance and testing. Designed with a distinctive blue and white color scheme, its silhouette is more robust than the Nu Gundam. Its Fin Funnels are fixed to wing-like thrusters on its back and feature a recharging function. The unit can also wield an exceptionally powerful, super-large beam weapon powered by the battleship Ra Cailum.
The "METAL BUILD Hi-Nu Gundam" is based on the design by mechanical designer Yutaka Izubuchi, faithfully reinterpreting its form with the signature METAL BUILD aesthetic. It captures the mobile suit's broader physique and captivating purple and white color scheme. The Fin Funnels and shield also feature Izubuchi's characteristic purple gradient and dot patterns. Constructed with numerous die-cast parts and utilizing techniques like electroplating, the figure boasts an even higher density of intricate details.
Furthermore, the METAL BUILD Hi-Nu Gundam incorporates armor deployment gimmicks, allowing various sections such as the rear calf armor, arm armor, front skirt armor, chest armor, and shoulder armor to slide open, revealing internal mechanisms. Its arsenal includes a beam rifle with a flexible strap, beam sabers stored in the left arm and backpack, a shield with a deployable muzzle at its tip, and a New Hyper Bazooka. The six Fin Funnels on its back can be detached and transformed, just like in the original design, and can be displayed in their firing state using dedicated clear stands.
・Features a highly articulated die-cast frame, providing a substantial and satisfying feel during posing.
・Recreates the deployment gimmicks for the vulcan cannon hidden in the right arm and the beam saber stored in the left arm.
・The New Hyper Bazooka includes a folding mechanism, allowing it to be mounted on the backpack.
・Both fuel tanks can be detached from the backpack, and their front and rear sections can be separated for a lighter configuration.
