From Japanese manufacturer PLEX and distributed by X-PLUS, the popular monster figure line "Daiei 30cm Series" is making a comeback after eight years with a completely new sculpt: "Gamera (1999) Ver.2." This highly anticipated release is a 'Shonen RIC' official store exclusive and is slated for an April 2022 launch.

Gamera, the iconic kaiju featured in the Heisei Trilogy, is canonically a bio-weapon created by an ancient civilization approximately 150 million years ago. Its purpose was to combat the man-eating monsters known as Gyaos, utilizing ancient technology and the Earth's life energy, Mana. Gamera possesses the ability to combine oxygen with its internal plasma energy, unleashing powerful Plasma Fireballs. Following major battles, Gamera's physical structure undergoes evolutionary changes during its resting periods, resulting in distinct design variations and increasingly formidable combat capabilities in each film.

In the third installment, "Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris," Gamera underwent significant evolution compared to its previous appearances. Its shell and skin became noticeably harder and sharper, giving it a far more ferocious and aggressive appearance. This iteration could even retract its head and all four limbs into its shell for high-speed, spinning jet flight. The power of its Plasma Fireball also appeared to increase, rendering adult Gyaos a relatively minor threat.

In contrast to the severed-arm version released in 2013, this "Daiei 30cm Series Gamera (1999) Ver.2" features an all-new sculpt that captures the formidable and cool appearance of G3 Gamera from its initial debut. Standing at an impressive 30 cm tall, the figure is crafted from PVC soft vinyl material, meticulously reproducing the sharp claws, rough skin textures, intricate patterns of its carapace, and overall biological realism.
