A new series is here! Japanese toy manufacturer MEDICOM TOY is launching a new line of sofubi figures under their "LEGEND VINYL WARRIORS" series, based on the classic manga and anime "Fist of the North Star." The inaugural release features Rei, the master of Nanto Suichō Ken (South Star Waterfowl Fist)! This highly anticipated figure is slated for a September 2022 release.
The world of "Fist of the North Star" is undoubtedly a household name, with protagonist Kenshiro's iconic image inspiring countless boys in their youth. Within the series, Rei is one of the Nanto Rokuseiken (South Star Six Sacred Fists), specifically embodying the "Star of Justice." His journey began in search of the "man with seven scars on his chest" who abducted his sister. Upon encountering Kenshiro, Rei initially mistook him for his nemesis. After clarifying the misunderstanding, he joined forces with Kenshiro to defeat the notorious Fang Clan and developed feelings for Mamiya, who traveled alongside them. Rei's fighting style is renowned as the most elegant among the Nanto Rokuseiken, so captivating that even Yuda, the "Star of Enchantment," was mesmerized by its beauty, leading to his defeat. Tragically, after being struck by Raoh's pressure point attack, Rei was left with only three days to live. Following his victory over Yuda, Rei secluded himself in a small hut, where he ultimately passed away.
This Rei figure from MEDICOM TOY marks the debut of their new sofubi series, "Hokuto no Ken LEGEND VINYL WARRIORS." The line appears poised to transform various characters from the original manga into vinyl figures, with Rei leading the charge as the first release. Standing approximately 25 cm (9.8 inches) tall, this figure boasts a standard, true-to-scale sculpt, departing from the previous "big-head" style sofubi designs. It features articulation at the arms and waist for dynamic posing.
