BANDAI SPIRITS' TAMASHII NATIONS collectible toy division has announced the latest addition to their popular S.H.Figuarts action figure line: "Tokai Teio" from "Uma Musume Pretty Derby," scheduled for release in July 2022.
The immensely popular Uma Musume, Tokai Teio (トウカイテイオー), who starred as the protagonist in the anime's second season, is based on the legendary Japanese racehorse of the same name. Dubbed the "Miracle Horse" in the early 1990s, Tokai Teio achieved an undefeated double crown upon her debut but tragically lost out on the Triple Crown and two Emperor's Cups due to multiple fractures. Despite repeated defeats and injuries, she consistently returned to challenge the odds. After more than a year of recovery and against all expectations, she made a miraculous comeback at the Arima Kinen, stunning favorite Biwa Hayahide to win the race and cement her legendary status.
The "S.H.Figuarts Tokai Teio" figure stands approximately 12.5 cm (4.9 inches) tall, faithfully capturing her iconic racing outfit. It meticulously recreates details such as her cool yet adorable red cape, golden buttons, and her distinctive right white, left black gloves. Articulated joints are incorporated into her limbs and tail, allowing for dynamic posing. The figure also includes five interchangeable expression parts, enabling collectors to recreate her wide range of emotions seen in the series and pose her as if she's sprinting across the racetrack.
