Japanese figure manufacturer Megahouse recently announced the latest addition to its high-quality video game character figure line, the "Game Characters Collection DX" series: the "Thanatos Anniversary EDITION" from "Persona 3," slated for release in November 2022.
Thanatos is the protagonist's exclusive Persona in "Persona 3," representing the protagonist's "Death" Arcana and the game's central theme of "death." Upon its first appearance, Thanatos explosively emerges from the protagonist's initial Persona, Orpheus, wielding light and dark instant-kill magic. Its design is inspired by the Greek god of death, featuring a beast-bone-like skull, a military uniform, and a long katana, embodying a cruel executioner who swiftly strikes down foes. Several coffins chained around its body further emphasize its ominous presence.
The "GCCDX Thanatos Anniversary EDITION" is based on the regular version released in 2020, capturing a dynamic sword-swinging moment in an impressive 30 cm tall sculpt. It meticulously renders the powerful, leaping pose and even minute details like the twisted fingers. Floating chains connect several coffins adorned with sculpted reliefs. The paint application faithfully reproduces the metallic textures of the head, belt, and chains. Furthermore, complex, ghost-like transparent blue effect parts coil around the figure, significantly enhancing its overall presence and intensity.
According to official descriptions, the only difference between the Anniversary EDITION and the regular version lies in the base. The new base features a black, round, beveled design with a blue gradient paint application, specifically intended to enhance the reflective effect of the transparent blue effect parts above.
