Japanese companies PLEX and X-PLUS have officially unveiled their highly anticipated collaborative series, "GIGANTIC × DEFOREAL," which combines their popular GIGANTIC and DEFOREAL Sofubi lines. The inaugural product for this dream collaboration is the "Godzilla (2016) 4th Form," slated for release in July 2022.
This release features the terrifying 4th Form of Godzilla from Hideaki Anno's 2016 film, "Shin Godzilla." This iteration of the King of the Monsters rapidly evolved after making landfall in Japan, leaving a powerful impression on audiences. Designed by Mahiro Maeda and Takayuki Takeya, its appearance channels the horrifying, colossal beast image of the original Godzilla. Notably, this particular Godzilla was also the very first subject released in the DEFOREAL series.
The "GIGANTIC × DEFOREAL Godzilla (2016) 4th Form" merges the massive scale of the GIGANTIC line with the stylized realism of DEFOREAL figures. Taking the typically 10-centimeter-plus DEFOREAL design and enlarging it to a formidable 30-centimeter class, this figure boasts a completely new sculpt that captures the chilling essence of the 4th Form, delivering an imposing presence befitting its larger size.
Crafted from PVC vinyl, the figure showcases an incredible level of detail. From its tiny, seemingly lifeless eyes and the irregularly arranged, varying-sized teeth, to its rough, craggy skin resembling bitter gourd and jagged reefs, and its massive, alien-like tail, every aspect is rendered with far greater clarity than the original DEFOREAL series. The result is an intensely powerful and palpable presence.
Additionally, X-PLUS's official store, Shonen RIC, will offer an exclusive limited edition. This special version features built-in LED light-up units throughout the head, body, and tail. When illuminated, the figure's red-hued areas glow, perfectly recreating Godzilla's ominous appearance under the night sky as seen in the film.
