Bandai Spirits' HOBBY Division has officially announced a brand-new sub-line for its HG (High Grade) model kit series: "HG Amplified IMGN." The inaugural release for this exciting new line will be the protagonist mecha, "Ryujinmaru," from the classic anime "Mashin Hero Wataru," slated for a July 2022 launch.
Much like the previous Figure-rise Standard Amplified series, the "HG Amplified IMGN" line expands the interpretation of iconic characters with an "Amplified" theme. This approach allows for imaginative, exaggerated designs that diverge significantly from their original settings, while also incorporating the latest HG series production techniques and various original mechanisms.
The first entry, "HG Amplified IMGN Ryujinmaru," reimagines Ryujinmaru, originally a roughly 3-head-tall design, into a realistic, Gundam-esque 8-head-tall proportion. The entire internal frame and armor have been redesigned, yet it retains key original features such as the head crest, shoulder dragon emblems, and chest magatama. The kit boasts advanced color separation and part division, with the gold components featuring a matte plated finish. Even the shoulder dragon emblems are sculpted as separate, intricate parts, ensuring a high level of completion straight out of the box.
Ryujinmaru's primary weapon, the "Toryuken," measures an impressive 16.5 cm long and features a plated gold blade complemented by PET material black stickers, giving it a substantial, premium feel. Combined with the flexible articulation in the shoulders and chest, collectors can recreate the iconic "Toryuken" special move, holding the sword with both hands raised overhead! Furthermore, an original weapon gimmick has been designed: the dragon fangs on both shoulders can be detached and mounted onto the wrists, mimicking the "Ginga Ryuga Ken" from the original series.
