BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division has officially announced the latest addition to its highly diverse 1/144 scale Gunpla lineup, the HG (High Grade) series. Coming from "Mobile Suit Gundam Wing," the new "HGAC 1/144 Shenlong Gundam" is slated for a September 2022 release.
The XXXG-01S Shenlong Gundam was one of the five Gundam mobile suits deployed to Earth during "Operation Meteor," launched by the space colonies against the Earth Sphere Unified Government. Piloted by Chang Wufei from the L5 Colony, the suit's design and performance reflect the cultural philosophy of its developer, Master O, and the L5 Colony's "Dragon" clan. It boasts exceptional agility for penetrating enemy lines and highly articulated joints for martial arts combat, making it the strongest of the five Gundams in close-quarters battle. Despite its official name, Wufei always referred to it as "Nataku," believing his late wife, who called herself Nataku and died protecting him, had her soul reside within the mobile suit.
Crafted with the latest HG series technology, the "HGAC 1/144 Shenlong Gundam" meticulously recreates its distinctive, ancient Chinese armor-inspired exterior through precise color separation and part division, faithfully capturing its sharp and powerful in-anime appearance. Each joint incorporates the newest HG articulation standards, allowing for flexible posing, including forward, backward, and lateral bending at the chest and waist. The pull-out shoulder joints enable dynamic action poses with its included weaponry, such as the Beam Glaive and Shenlong Shield, even replicating iconic moves like spinning the glaive above its head. The right arm features a multi-stage folding articulation axis and deployment mechanism, perfectly reproducing the signature "Dragon Fang" weapon in its extended form. Furthermore, two extension parts are included to significantly lengthen the Dragon Fang for even more dramatic displays!
