Prime 1 Studio, a renowned Japanese collectible manufacturer, is set to release a stunning 1/4 scale statue of Jin Sakai from the critically acclaimed action-adventure game "Ghost of Tsushima." This highly anticipated piece, part of their popular "Ultimate Premium Masterline" series, features Jin donning his iconic Sakai Clan Armor and is slated for release between June and September 2023.
Developed by Sucker Punch Productions, "Ghost of Tsushima" is an open-world action-adventure game that launched on PlayStation 4 in July 2020. The narrative follows Jin Sakai, a samurai from Tsushima Island, who was raised with the strict tenets of Bushido. However, after the Mongol invasion, his uncle's capture, his own defeat and injury, and his encounter with the rogue Yuna, Jin's unwavering beliefs are shaken. To restore peace to Tsushima, he forsakes his traditional samurai code and embraces the path of the "Ghost" (also known as "Kurouto"), seeking vengeance from the shadows. The game later received a Director's Cut for PlayStation 5 in August 2021 and has achieved remarkable success, selling over 6.5 million copies worldwide.
The Sakai Clan Armor (境井家の鎧), featured in this Prime 1 Studio release, is an iconic set obtained during the second act of the game's main story. Historically worn by the head of the Sakai clan, it was previously donned by Jin's father, Kazumasa Sakai. The armor boasts a striking black base with intricate gold trim, complemented by helmet horns resembling deer antlers. The mask's menacing, demon-like expression adds to its formidable presence. Standing approximately 60 cm tall, Jin is depicted wielding his katana, positioned on a base adorned with fallen maple leaves, evoking a profound sense of melancholy and beauty.
Following Prime 1 Studio's tradition, this release will be available in both a Standard Edition and a DX Bonus Edition. The DX Bonus Edition includes additional exclusive parts: an unhelmeted portrait showcasing Jin's face and an interchangeable hand part posed as if drawing his katana from its sheath. Furthermore, the DX Bonus Edition comes with a display stand featuring the Sakai clan's family crest (the "tomoe" symbol), which is also prominently featured in the game's "GHOST" title logo. This edition offers a truly comprehensive and rich display experience.
