Bandai Candy's popular SHOKUGAN MODELING PROJECT (SMP) model kit series, from Japanese toy company Bandai, recently announced its latest release from "Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger": the "Hyakujuu Gattai Gao Lion & Gao Elephant," slated for a July 2022 release.
At first glance, this new Gao Lion might seem similar to previously released standard versions. However, it's actually the gigantic 2.5-times-scale Gao Lion from the show, which grew after eating Tetomu's fried egg! Not only are its articulation and strength enhanced, allowing for more dynamic poses, but pressing a mechanism on its abdomen also deploys the back's combination joint. This allows it to further combine with the separately sold "Gao Icarus" to form the centaur-like Gao Centaurus!
Meanwhile, the Gao Elephant, which serves as Gao Centaurus's sword and shield armament, features a design largely identical to the black version previously released with Gao Knight. However, this time it comes in its standard color scheme and includes two blade variations: a thin-bladed sword and a chain-bladed sword. Additionally, the set comes with a special display stand featuring the "Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger" logo!
