Chinese toy manufacturer Rocket Toys, established in 2020 and specializing in articulated figures, recently announced two new additions from the video game "Sengoku BASARA": Date Masamune and Sanada Yukimura! This article focuses on the 1/6 scale figure of the "Peerless Spear" himself, Sanada Yukimura, with an estimated shipping date in Q4 2022.
The "Sengoku BASARA" series is a Musou-style action game developed by Capcom. The first title launched on PS2 in 2005, with subsequent entries released on platforms like PS3, PS4, and Wii. Set during Japan's Sengoku period, "Sengoku BASARA" offers the thrill of mowing down hordes of enemies, explosive hit counts, and stylish, over-the-top moves. However, its biggest draw is arguably its exaggerated and often comedic reinterpretation of historical figures, twisting established history. Examples include an Oda Nobunaga who truly embodies the Demon King, an Akechi Mitsuhide like the Grim Reaper, and a Honda Tadakatsu who's practically a Gundam! (Laughs)
Standing approximately 32 cm tall, this figure meticulously recreates the fiery warrior Sanada Yukimura based on his in-game design, utilizing a blend of materials including genuine leather, fabric, alloy, PVC, and ABS. His signature elements, such as the wind-swept red headband, dark red jacket, and white pants adorned with flame patterns, are faithfully reproduced. The skirt and leg armor also feature intricate sculpting, while the outer patterns on his top are accented with PVC parts. The spearheads of his two "Jūmonji Yari" (cross spears) are crafted from alloy, conveying both a weighty presence and sharp precision. The sight of him wielding both spears with his headband fluttering is incredibly dynamic and cool! As a bonus, an enraged shouting head sculpt is included.
