From Japan's PLEX company and distributed by X-PLUS, the "Toho Maniacs" series, which brings iconic Toho characters to life, is set to release its latest PVC pre-painted figure: Dr. Serizawa from the original 1954 film "Godzilla." Priced at 6,985 JPY, the figure is currently available for pre-order exclusively through Premium Bandai Japan and X-PLUS's official online store, Shonen RIC, with an estimated release in September 2022.
A pivotal character from the 1954 film "Godzilla," the brilliant scientist Dr. Daisuke Serizawa accidentally invented the "Oxygen Destroyer" during his oxygen-related research. This devastating device could instantly obliterate oxygen in a given aquatic area, suffocating all living organisms. Fearing its malicious use, Dr. Serizawa kept his discovery a top-secret experiment. However, after witnessing Godzilla's horrific rampage through Tokyo, he destroyed his research data, took the Oxygen Destroyer device, and plunged into Tokyo Bay, ultimately sacrificing himself and taking Godzilla with him to a watery grave.
The "Toho Maniacs Dr. Serizawa" PVC pre-painted figure stands approximately 16 cm tall, meticulously recreating Dr. Serizawa in his diving suit, clutching the devastating Oxygen Destroyer device. While his facial expression isn't clearly visible, the figure powerfully conveys his resolute determination and willingness to make the ultimate sacrifice. The paint application features a black and gray color scheme, faithfully reproducing the aesthetic of the original black-and-white film, with excellent detailing on the diving suit, helmet, and metallic accessories.
