BANDAI SPIRITS' Collectors Division, known for its highly articulated "ROBOT魂" robot toy line, has previously released numerous mecha from the classic anime "Aura Battler Dunbine" under its (SIDE AB) sub-label. The series is set to release the "SKULLMA" (スカルマ), a unit from the "AURA FHANTASM" serialized column, in August 2022!

"Aura Battler Dunbine" (聖戦士ダンバイン) is a classic robot anime that debuted in 1983. The story is set in Byston Well, an alternate dimension located between the sea and land, where Aura Battlers (ABs) from various nations are drawn into conflict. In 1988, an OVA titled "New Story of Aura Battler DUNBINE" was released, depicting a world 700 years later where Aura Battlers, thought to have vanished, reappear in Byston Well. The protagonist, Shion (a reincarnation of the original series' protagonist, Sho Zama), pilots the Zwauth.
The SKULLMA also originates from "AURA FHANTASM," an illustration series serialized in the model magazine "B-CLUB." Mecha design master Yutaka Izubuchi designed the Aura Battler forms for this series, which feature a unique and distinct style compared to the original anime. Many fans have a strong affection for these re-imagined designs. The ROBOT魂 line has also released other units from this series, such as the previously featured "VERBINE" (ヴェルビン), which is an evolution of the Billbine.
This ROBOT魂 SKULLMA figure immediately strikes with its exceptionally slender appearance, truly living up to its name "SKULLMA" with its skeletal resemblance. Its prototype is derived from the Kingdom of Ah's experimental unit, the BASTOLE (バストール). Incorporating insectoid elements, the SKULLMA features reduced armor thickness, prioritizing extreme mobility. The ROBOT魂 faithfully recreates its distinctive look, including its four arms. Accessories include interchangeable hands, spare antennae, and an original large scythe weapon, giving it a truly grim reaper-like presence when wielded.
