Japan's official "Mobile Suit Gundam" Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, today announced the upcoming release of their latest in-store exclusive, the "MG 1/100 Eclipse Gundam [Clear Color]," set to launch on April 29, 2022.
The protagonist mobile suit from the official MSV sidestory manga "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED ECLIPSE," the MVF-X08 Eclipse Gundam, was a highly confidential mobile suit developed by the Orb Union in C.E. 72 and operated by the "Orb International Rescue (ODR)." This unit incorporates and analyzes parts of the Freedom Gundam's high-strength frame structure, featuring a unique Mobile Armor (MA) transformation mechanism that allows for high-altitude supersonic flight in MA mode. It also comes equipped with "Mirage Colloid" functionality for stealth operations, a beam rifle, beam sabers, and beam shields on both arms. Furthermore, it is compatible with the "Striker Pack" system, allowing for mission-specific equipment changes.
The "MG 1/100 Eclipse Gundam [Clear Color]" kit is based on thestandard release from 2021, utilizing parts of the Freedom Gundam 2.0's inner frame. It faithfully recreates the highly detailed and sharp exterior armor, along with the Mobile Armor transformation mechanism that requires no part swapping. Both beam sabers and the arm-mounted beam shields include clear green beam effect parts, allowing for dynamic combat scene recreations.
This limited clear color version replaces the original white, blue, red, yellow, and gray exterior armor with high-transparency clear molded parts. The inner frame components are molded in a metallic color resembling gunmetal, making it easier for special customization techniques such as adding lighting or glow-in-the-dark paint, and offering a distinct style compared to standard Gunpla releases.
