Japanese toy brand ELECTRIC TOYS is launching a new sofubi figure under its specialized vinyl toy brand, "SOFVIPS" (ソフビップス). The latest release features Nagazawa-kun from the classic family anime series "Chibi Maruko-chan," with an anticipated release in September 2022.
"Chibi Maruko-chan" is a cherished memory for many, first appearing as a manga in 1986 and then adapted into an anime in 1990. For over three decades, it has maintained significant popularity, offering a comforting and heartwarming experience to its audience. Creator Momoko Sakura drew inspiration from her own childhood experiences, crafting a series of delightful stories. The original characters, including father Hiroshi, grandfather Tomozo, best friend Tama-chan, and their classmates, are all widely recognized and beloved. Although the author sadly passed away in 2018, the anime continues to air (the manga has concluded its serialization), and related events and merchandise are still actively being released.
Fans of "Chibi Maruko-chan" are undoubtedly familiar with Nagazawa-kun, whose full name is Nagasawa Kimio (ながさわ きみお). A classmate of Maruko, he is most remembered for his distinctive onion-shaped head and the traumatic house fire that left a deep scar on him, making him gloomy and, at times, cowardly. He often hangs out with Fujiki but frequently uses his sharp tongue to tease him.
This new Nagazawa-kun sofubi figure from SOFVIPS faithfully recreates his iconic onion-shaped head and his signature mischievous, freckled expression. The figure also features a degree of articulation in the arms, making it a must-have for fans of "Chibi Maruko-chan" characters.
