Following the standard version of Dark Magician, Japanese figure manufacturer MEGAHOUSE has announced the latest addition to its monster-themed "ART WORKS MONSTERS" series. The new "Dark Magician ~Duel of the Conjurer~" figure, based on the iconic character from "Yu-Gi-Oh!", is slated for release in late December 2022.
This particular version of the Dark Magician differs from the previously released standard edition. It represents the Dark Magician used by Pandora the Conjurer, a member of the Rare Hunters, an international card forgery and theft organization. While its abilities are identical to a regular Dark Magician, its card art features distinct colors and a malevolent, white-eyed expression. In the series, Pandora's desperate pursuit of victory led him to abandon his trust in the Dark Magician, ultimately resulting in his defeat when the monster betrayed him.
The "ART WORKS MONSTERS Dark Magician ~Duel of the Conjurer~" largely retains the sculpt of the standard version, crafted by sculptor Kenji Ando. However, the head is a newly sculpted part, faithfully recreating the evil facial features of Pandora's version. The figure captures a sinister aura while maintaining the original dynamic pose. The paint application has also been completely revamped, showcasing a dark skin tone and white hair. The entire outfit is rendered in various metallic colors, including purplish-red and copper, accentuating the intricate details of the sculpt.
