The Little Hut, a micro-gallery known for featuring both local and international artists, is currently hosting "Unidentified Kaiju Zone," a solo exhibition by Imiri Sakabashira, a highly acclaimed creator in Japan's alternative manga scene. This marks Sakabashira's second solo show in Taipei after a six-year hiatus, and his second monster-themed exhibition following a successful run in Hong Kong. Although the artist is unable to attend in person due to the pandemic, visitors can still immerse themselves in the unique monster world he has crafted through his captivating works.

Imiri Sakabashira first rose to prominence through the legendary alternative manga magazine "Garo" and later serialized his work in "AX" magazine. While his creations cater to a niche audience, his distinctive artistic style, brimming with retro Asian aesthetics, has garnered a dedicated global fanbase. His works have even been translated and published in English, French, and other languages.

Since holding his first solo exhibition in 2004, Imiri Sakabashira has also published several art books, which are highly sought after by collectors of alternative art. In recent years, Sakabashira has expanded his creative output to include sofubi figures, and his exhibitions have increasingly incorporated elements of Japanese Tokusatsu monsters. This latest Taipei solo exhibition, "Unidentified Kaiju Zone," promises a visual feast that masterfully blends the worlds of monsters and art.

Japanese Tokusatsu culture has profoundly influenced countless creators worldwide. Beyond its iconic heroes, the diverse array of monsters has been particularly instrumental in shaping the entire sofubi art scene. Imiri Sakabashira, with his incredibly captivating style, interprets a multitude of original monsters, presenting them in an artistic manner that makes this exhibition exceptionally worthwhile to experience.

The "Unidentified Kaiju Zone" Imiri Sakabashira Taipei solo exhibition will run until April 17th. Admission is free, so interested fans are encouraged to visit and experience the unique charm of Sakabashira's captivating works.
