BANDAI SPIRITS' TAMASHII NATIONS, known for its robot-themed articulated action figures under the ROBOT SPIRITS line, has announced the latest release from the "Mobile Suit Gundam" franchise: the RX-93ff ν Gundam, slated for May 2022.
The highly anticipated life-sized RX-93ff ν Gundam statue is set to be officially unveiled this April at the LaLaport Fukuoka front plaza. Standing at an impressive 24.8 meters tall, this statue is based on the design from "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack." Under the supervision of anime director Yoshiyuki Tomino, the statue features a redesigned "Long-Range Fin Funnel" that can support itself on the ground, along with updated body colors and markings. Its massive presence is truly striking, and its right arm can even be raised!
The ROBOT SPIRITS RX-93ff ν Gundam faithfully recreates the Fukuoka life-sized ν Gundam statue in a highly detailed, pre-painted, and articulated action figure format. It boasts intricate armor panel lines and detailed sculpting, featuring the new "Long-Range Fin Funnel" which is even longer than the main mobile suit itself. All body markings, yellow vents, and other details are meticulously pre-painted.
The Long-Range Fin Funnel can be posed in its forward-firing configuration using an articulated support arm. It can also be attached to the right arm to function as a massive beam saber, as seen in special promotional videos. Unfortunately, it lacks an expansion gimmick to replicate the open muzzle state. Additional armaments include a beam rifle, beam saber, and shield, allowing for dynamic battle scene recreations with the figure's flexible articulation.
What's particularly surprising is the figure's reference price of just 5,500 JPY (tax included). This makes it significantly more affordable compared to recent releases in the same series, which typically range from 7,000 to 9,000 JPY.
