Yoshitoku x F:NEX Unveils Exquisite "Date A Live" Kurumi Tokisaki -Japanese Doll- 1/4 Scale Figure

F:NEX, the high-quality figure brand under Japan's renowned prize toy manufacturer Furyu (フリュー株式会社), has once again partnered with the esteemed traditional Japanese doll maker Yoshitoku. Their sixth collaborative release is the stunning "Kurumi Tokisaki -Japanese Doll-" 1/4 scale figure, inspired by "DATE A LIVE"! This F:NEX exclusive, made-to-order piece is priced at 168,300 Yen and was released in December 2022.

Located in Tokyo's Asakusa district, Yoshitoku is a venerable Japanese doll atelier boasting a 300-year history. The company specializes in creating traditional Hina dolls for Girls' Day, Musha dolls (Gogatsu Ningyo) for Children's Day, and various other figures that embody Japanese culture. Their corporate slogan, "The life of a doll is in its face (人形は顔がいのち)," reflects their meticulous craftsmanship, not only in producing high-quality kimonos and armor but also in imbuing each doll's face with soul and exquisite detail.

The "Yoshitoku x F:NEX Kurumi Tokisaki -Japanese Doll-" stands at an impressive 41 cm tall, crafted in a grand 1/4 scale. Upholding Yoshitoku's core philosophy, Kurumi's fair skin, rosy lips, and delicate cheeks are sculpted with incredible precision, giving her an adorably captivating expression. Her black twin-tails feature a beautiful translucent effect in the hair strands, further accentuated by intricate red hair ornaments. With a hint of exposed shoulder and the guns in her hands, the figure evokes a gunpowder-laden, battle-ready elegance, perfectly capturing Kurumi's mysterious, mad, yet charmingly contrasting persona.

The costume's original design was created by doll artisan "2nd Generation Tsuda Hosei," who, with over 70 years of experience, transcends traditional boundaries to craft a more form-fitting silhouette that highlights the figure's alluring contours. Yoshitoku meticulously produced the unique traditional Kyo-Yuzen kimono, featuring a striking red and black color scheme. The fabric incorporates a sayagata base pattern, along with cherry blossoms and drum motifs in varying shades. The eye-catching obi (sash) is made from gold and silver brocade fabric from Kyoto's renowned textile merchant, Bando Shoten, adding a touch of luxurious texture and ensuring the kimono drapes elegantly to showcase her graceful curves.
