Japanese model manufacturer MAX FACTORY, known for its diverse PLAMAX model kit series, has announced its latest product: the "1/12 Scale Kamakura Period Armored Samurai," slated for an August 2022 release.
Developed in collaboration with "Monthly Armour Modelling," a highly respected military modeling magazine in Japan, the "PLAMAX 1/12 Scale Kamakura Period Armored Samurai" kit utilizes 3D scanning to achieve incredibly precise detailing. It faithfully recreates the fierce expression of a samurai from the Heian to Kamakura periods, his commanding stance with a katana, the intricate Kebiki-odoshi lacing on the O-yoroi (great armor), and the subtle fabric wrinkles. This kit truly brings to life the practical and aesthetic beauty of ancient Japanese armor.
However, this kit features single-color molding, and its pegs are primarily for positioning. Builders will need to use model cement to secure parts and apply paint to complete the armored samurai. Be sure to have your tools and painting skills ready before diving in!
