Sentinel, a prominent Japanese collectible company, is set to release a new 12-inch action figure based on the classic anime film "Harmagedon." Fans can look forward to the protagonist, "VEGA Special Color Edition," joining their collections. This impressive figure is priced at 40,700 JPY and was originally slated for release in June 2022.
The 1983 Japanese animated film "Harmagedon" is an adaptation of the manga series by Kazumasa Hirai and Shotaro Ishinomori. Notably, the legendary Katsuhiro Otomo contributed to the character designs and some key animation, marking his first foray into anime production. The story unfolds as doomsday approaches, giving rise to a new generation of heroes. The cosmic entity Floi senses the impending threat of the Genma and rallies powerful psychic warriors, led by Princess Luna, to unite and defend Earth against the encroaching darkness.
The Sentinel "VEGA Special Color Edition" 12-inch action figure stands approximately 30 cm tall, bringing the millennium warrior back to life with a stunning new paint application. The sculpt meticulously captures the character's long struggle against the Genma, featuring intricate battle damage and a partially broken head, showcasing years of conflict. While maintaining its sleek mechanical design, the figure boasts a special blue-green color scheme that evokes a distinct retro and nostalgic feel, complete with the iconic chest emblem.
This highly articulated figure boasts over 40 points of articulation, allowing for dynamic posing. Vega's arm-mounted beam cannon is fully articulated, and the figure even features movable eyeballs to recreate his piercing gaze. Both the head and chest are equipped with built-in LED light-up features, adding to its display presence. Furthermore, interchangeable face parts are included, allowing collectors to display Vega in both his standard and damaged appearances, faithfully capturing the essence of this iconic character.
