SUN-STAR Unleashes "Godzilla" Oxygen Destroyer Paperweight, Recreating the Iconic Prop in Metal!

SUN-STAR Stationery Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Japan's Bandai Namco Group, is set to release a "Oxygen Destroyer Paperweight" based on the crucial prop from the 1954 kaiju film "Godzilla." This highly anticipated collectible was priced at 7,480 JPY and was scheduled for release in July 2022.

The original "Godzilla" (ゴジラ) film, released in 1954, was a black-and-white production and is widely regarded as the progenitor of Japanese kaiju cinema. The story unfolds with the awakening of the ancient monster Godzilla from the depths of the ocean, stirred by hydrogen bomb tests. This colossal, unidentified creature then launches a devastating assault on Tokyo, the capital of Japan, obliterating buildings, including the National Diet Building, and engulfing the city in a fiery inferno with its atomic breath, causing unimaginable destruction. In the film's climactic conclusion, Dr. Serizawa dives into Tokyo Bay and activates the "Oxygen Destroyer," ultimately reducing Godzilla to a skeletal remains at the bottom of the sea.

This release masterfully transforms the iconic "Oxygen Destroyer" prop from the film into a functional and highly detailed paperweight. Crafted from premium metal materials such as stainless steel and alloy, it measures a compact 8 cm and boasts a substantial weight of 75 grams, offering a satisfying heft in hand. Beyond its primary use as a paperweight, it also cleverly doubles as a pen holder, ensuring a commanding presence on any desk. Furthermore, the item comes packaged in a special box adorned with Godzilla's distinctive footprint, significantly enhancing its collectible appeal.
