Hong Kong-based toy manufacturer Hot Toys celebrated Star Wars Day 2022 by unveiling several new products, commemorating the 20th anniversary of "Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones." We're excited to bring you the full details on their 1/6 scale collectible figure of the Star Wars saga's most beloved droid mascot, "R2-D2".
Standing approximately 18 cm tall, this figure faithfully recreates R2-D2's iconic appearance from the film, complete with weathering effects for enhanced realism. Beyond its signature die-cast dome head and meticulously sculpted mechanical details throughout the body, the figure also features a magnetic design for attaching and detaching various accessories R2-D2 utilized in the film. These include a circular saw, welding torch, life-form scanner, gripper arm, suction cup, and various terminal connector tools. For enhanced playability, the head features 360° rotation and an LED light-up function, the feet boast real-working rolling wheels, and it comes with 14 built-in R2-D2 sound effects!
Additional accessories include two blue jet thruster effects and a C-3PO head sculpt. By utilizing the suction cup accessory equipped on R2's back, collectors can attach C-3PO's head, perfectly recreating the iconic scene where R2 rescues C-3PO during the Battle of Geonosis.
