Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya, in collaboration with illustrator Morikura En, has announced the latest crossover product for their everyday bishojo model kit series, "Sousai Shojo Teien." This new release, "Gennai Ao [Wakaba Girls' High School Winter Clothes]," is a collaboration with their popular "Frame Arms Girl" line and is slated for a December 2022 release. Additionally, a special limited-edition variant, "Dreaming Style Happy Monochrome," featuring unique colors, will be available exclusively through Kotobukiya's official channels in January 2023.
The popular Kotobukiya model kit series "Frame Arms Girl" was adapted into an anime series in 2017. Its protagonist, Gennai Ao, is a cheerful and expressive high school student who accidentally opens a misdelivered package, becoming the sole owner of a "Gourai." With no prior knowledge of model kits, she embarks on a fun-filled daily life alongside her diminutive Frame Arms Girls.
Upon its announcement, this product immediately felt like a premium release, receiving "favorite daughter" treatment. The "Gennai Ao [Wakaba Girls' High School Winter Clothes]" kit boasts an impressive 16 different molded plastic colors. Key parts like her top, skirt, and all five included expression faces come pre-painted, allowing for a highly accurate recreation of her in-anime appearance right out of the box. The kit includes a total of 10 expression parts – five pre-painted and five unpainted – offering the most extensive range of cute and varied expressions in the series to date.
As previously teased, the accessory lineup is robust, featuring various interchangeable hand parts, a smartphone, school bag, Kotobukiya nippers, a skirt part for sitting poses, and feet sculpted with socks, enabling a wide array of scene recreations. Furthermore, the neck joint includes two interchangeable parts, making it compatible with both "Sousai Shojo Teien" and "Frame Arms Girl" figures, allowing collectors to freely swap Ao's head or body with characters from either series.
Also launching in December is the "After School Gourai Birthday Set," an accessory pack designed to complement this release. It includes a low round table, a loose-hair hairstyle part for Gennai Ao, a birthday cake, Gourai, and Gourai's storage box. This set allows for recreating scenes like flipping the table or Ao's long hair after untying her ponytail. Additionally, it features five expression parts compatible with Frame Arms Girl figures. By applying water-slide decals of Ao's various amusing expressions, collectors can bring lively and fun facial changes to their other Frame Arms Girl kits.
The "Dreaming Style Happy Monochrome" version, scheduled for a January release next year, features Ao's hair parts molded in pink and her uniform painted in a striking black and white scheme. While its accessories are largely identical to the standard edition, this variant truly shines with a generous total of 15 expression parts: five pre-painted expressions, five unpainted expressions, and five unpainted expressions specifically for Frame Arms Girl figures,
