"Mind trick don't-a work on-a me !!" Star Wars Alien Extravaganza, Stop Three: Kowakians, Toydarians, and Loth-cats

Star Wars has been with us for many years, and its complex worldview and character relationships have enriched the entire saga. Beyond lightsabers, the Force, and the Jedi, the diverse array of alien species is also a captivating aspect of Star Wars. Unlike some humanoid species, not all creatures can communicate in Basic, and some species even serve as food for others. Today, let's introduce some Star Wars alien species that are closer to primitive beasts!

>>>Kowakian Species

Kowakians inhabit Kowak, and are a species with the appearance of both lizards and monkeys, hence they are also known as monkey-lizards. They possess reptilian limbs, monkey-like fur, and their skin color ranges from yellow and green to purple. Kowakians are often kept as pets by other species, such as the infamous Jabba the Hutt and the great pirate Hondo Ohnaka. Kowakians are adept at mimicking the speech of other creatures, much like parrots, and their irritating laughter is a prominent characteristic. Their primary diet consists of insects or rodents; however, in The Mandalorian series, traces of roasted Kowakians can be seen on the planet Nevarro, indicating that these monkey-lizards also serve as a food source for other creatures.

However, not all Kowakians lead such lowly lives. Although a primitive species, Kowakians can still wield blasters for attack, and there are records of Kowakians becoming bounty hunters, even capturing Chewbacca for the Empire. The most famous Kowakian is Salacious B. Crumb, who was often seen beside Jabba. As Jabba's jester, his iconic laughter is surely a cherished memory for Star Wars fans!

>>>Toydarian Species

Toydarians are a species inhabiting Toydaria, characterized by long noses, a pair of rapidly vibrating small wings, and webbed feet. Their skin color can be blue or green. Although small in stature, Toydarians possess a very stubborn and confident personality, which makes them one of the few species immune to Jedi mind tricks.

The leader of the Toydarian people is King Katuunko, who appeared in the animated series The Clone Wars and maintained a neutral role in the vast galactic civil war. In the prequel trilogy, the most famous character is undoubtedly Watto, Anakin's owner during his childhood enslavement. His foul-mouthed personality and the scene where he resists Qui-Gon Jinn's mind trick are also classic moments.

>>>Loth-cat

The Loth-cat is an indigenous species residing on Lothal in the Outer Rim Territories. They enjoy hunting rodents in grasslands, and their personality is almost identical to Earth cats, though their size is much larger, with an average length of nearly one meter. Large mouths, tawny fur, and spots are distinctive features of Loth-cats. When pursuing prey, they can even hunt for an entire day, fully embodying their predatory nature.

Loth-cats are prominent in the animated series Star Wars Rebels and have also appeared in The Mandalorian series. These spiritual Loth-cats can also guide people to find what they need, and there are even records of groups of Loth-cats attacking TIE fighter pilots.
